Gurdwara leader's murder suspect shot dead in Haridwar in a confrontation with the Special Task Force Uttarakhand in the Bhagwanpur region early Tuesday. Amarjit Singh, who is also known as Bittu, a gunman with a bounty of INR 1 lakh, was fatally shot, while his partner escaped, according to Abhinav Kumar, Uttarakhand’s Director General of Police.
The Haridwar Police and Uttarakhand STF collaborate in a joint operation to capture the fugitive. Uttarakhand gurdwara chief murder suspect Amarjit Singh, with a criminal record of over 16 cases, was allegedly involved in the killing of 'karseva' chief of Nanakmatta Sahib Gurdwara on March 28. Baba Tarsem Singh was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding attackers at the in Udham Singh Nagar Nanakmatta Gurdwara.
Previously, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Udham Singh Nagar, increased the reward for both Sarabjit Singh and Amarjit Singh, the main accused gunmen, to one lakh from INR 50,000 each. Three additional suspects were apprehended for their alleged involvement in organising the offence, including providing resources, assembling criminals, and supplying weapons.
DGP Kumar expressed the Uttarakhand Police's commitment to resolving Baba's murder, with the police and STF actively pursuing both culprits.
